I've never heard of ...What an interesting tale! I've never heard of the Copus massacre or knew about this memorial, and I've lived in Ohio all my life. I don't see your viewpoint as callous at all - sadly, the soldiers got what they deserved, though Mr. Copus did not. I don't know if it's shame or ignorance or a combination of the two that keeps us from talking about what we did to the native Americans. I'm sorry to say it's most likely ignorance for many people.
